Wonderful Wednesday

I apologize for my lack-of posting this week. My family is making the final move out of our house, and needless to say it has been a hectic and busy week.

Here are some of the things we have been doing this week:

Each prechooler made a stocking to decorate the classroom. Using cotton balls to create the soft-top of the stocking and lacing around the edges. These are hanging above our “fireplace” in the classroom!

Tuesday the preschoolers heard the story of the candy cane. We used pipe-cleaners and beads to make the candy cane and tried to stick to a red-white pattern.

Today, the preschoolers engaged in a sequencing/ordering activity. They put popsicle sticks in order from smallest to largest. This created a Christmas tree shape. The preschoolers then used sequins as ornaments to decorate their trees and we added ribbon to the top to make this tree an ornament for your trees at home.

This week we have been working on number recognition, counting and one to one correspondence. We used number cards and clothespins with Christmas trees to count each number. This has also been a great fine motor skill for strengthening and pincer grasp.

We have also been working on the letter D, with sounds, words and formation.

Jesus time has focused on the birth of our Savior, Jesus! Ask your preschooler if they can recall details from the story.

Tonight is the night to get your Scholastic book orders in online.

Saturday, December 10th is the Pancake Breakfast with Santa from 8-10 am at the Ascension Campus.

Sunday, December 11th is the Christmas Concert at the Ascension Campus. The Pre-K – 2nd Grade concert begins at 1:00. Preschool students will be singing first. Please find me at a wall near the stage around 12:50 so that I can take your preschooler to the stage to sing!

See some of you tomorrow!
