Terrific Thursday

Today we learned about ladybugs! The preschoolers have been excited to find out what insect we would be learning about. We learned some facts about the ladybug and were fascinated by the colorful outer shell. Ask your preschooler if they remember what each set of ladybug wings do.

Potatoes made great lady bug shapes. We used red paint to create the shape onto paper. When dry, each preschooler gave their ladybug a unique spotted pattern. You can find our ladybugs in the hallway with the other insects that we have created.

A favorite center of the day was making our own bugs and insects out of play-doh. Googly eyes, straws, marker kids and glue lids helped to make each bug/insect unique.

During Jesus time, we did an action poem to review our story of Jesus meeting his friends on the road to Emmaus. Ask your preschooler if they can tell/act out any parts of the story.

We read “The Very Lazy Ladybug” today and met a ladybug that was too lazy to fly. This was a fun and silly book. Ask your preschooler what their favorite part of the story was.

Don’t forget to RSVP for Mom’s Night!

See you tomorrow.

We continued our insect study today by learning about bees. We talked about some things we knew about bees and after watching a video, we talked about new things we had learned. We talked about how bees pollinate flowers. Ask if your preschooler can tell you what happens during pollination.

We learned more about pollination by acting it out. We used antennae, wings and went from flower to flower helping to pollinate.

Our project of the day was creating a bee. Although we all used the same pieces..each bee had its own unique touch. We also made beehives using honeycombs. These projects are hanging in the hallway. We will continue to add more throughout the week.

Pastor led us in chapel today. We learned what it means to have faith. Ask your preschooler if they remember what faith is.

We have continued to work on our song “If I were a Butterfly”. The preschoolers really look forward to singing this song!

Don’t forget to turn in the RSVPS for mom’s night!

See you tomorrow.

Marvelous Monday

This week we are learning about insects! We started by learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. Life cycle necklaces were a fun way to help remember each stage of the life cycle. Ask your preschooler if they remember.

We read many books about butterflies today. One favorite was “The Very hungry Caterpillar”. Ask your preschooler their favorite story.

During Jesus time we talked about places that we could learn about Jesus. School, home and church were some of the places that were said. We learned that Jesus disciples learned more about Jesus as they were on their way to a new city. Ask your preschooler what happened when the disciples found out they were talking with Jesus.

Recently we have been learning a new song called “If I were a Butterfly”. This song has been a favorite of the preschoolers!

Don’t forget to send in your mom’s night RSVP’s this week.

See some of you tomorrow.

Tip-Top Tuesday

Today we talked about Jesus rising from the dead! We read some stories during circle time to emphasize this! The preschoolers were excited and happy to hear that Jesus is alive!

During centers we made an empty tomb to represent the empty tomb of Jesus. These are on display in the hallway, but ask for preschooler how we made them.

During chapel, we filled our egg cartons with our resurrection eggs. The preschoolers were confused when they received their last egg and it was empty. Ask you preschooler if they can tell you why.

Don’t forget, tomorrow is our Easter Party!
If you have not yet sent in 6 eggs filled with candy, please send them in tomorrow. The eggs will be used for an Easter egg hunt at school!

Wonderful Wednesday

We started our morning with a story called Happy Easter Clifford. Ask your preschooler what their favorite part of the story was.

During centers we:

-built Easter baskets with paper then added egg sponge paints
-built egg towers using eggs and Play-doh
-sorted jelly beans using our fine motor scoops
-had egg races using ramps, empty eggs and eggs filled with marbles. This was a fan favorite!

During Jesus time we read the story of Jesus crucifixon feom our Story Bible. As I read, I could see that the preschoolers were very involved in the story. The emotions in their face showed me this.
We then reviewed the story using an activity called Mad, Bad, Sad, Glad. Ask your preschooler if they can remember the Mad, Bad, Sad or Glad part of the story.

Just a reminder, we have no school Friday, April 14th and Monday, April 17. School will resume Tuesday, April 18th.

Marvelous Monday

This week we will be learning about Easter. We will be having fun with bunnies and eggs but will also learn the real reason behind Easter.

During centers:

-we made stained stained glass crosses to decorate windows
-used magnetic letters to spell our names and friends names
-built crosses using playdoh and popsicle sticks.

During Jesus time we talked about when Jesus died on the cross. We put s black crepe paper strip on our class cross. After putting it on the cross I gave one to each preschooler. Ask them why they got a black streamer.

We will continue our Easter theme tomorrow.

See you then.

Terrific Thursday

we continued our discussion about spring this morning. We have been reading stories about planting gardens, and all of the different kinds of things you can plant. This led us to discuss the different parts of a plant.

As we got into centers the preschoolers went to the easel to paint. Many of them wanted to paint flowers, and as they painted, we talked about making sure to add each part.

Other centers were:
Cutting zig zags and using the pieces to build the letter z.
Using our play-doh mats and play doh to make z and other letters.

During Jesus time one of Jesus disciples came to visit. He told us about the night of The Last Supper. Ask your preschooler if they can tell you some parts of the story.

See some of you tomorrow!
