Fantastic Friday

We started our morning by coloring ad drawing in our journals. The preschoolers enjoyed sharing what they had drawn with Ms. Ronda and I.

Today we learned that our ribs protect everything inside our bodies. The preschoolers colored a picture of their lungs and put those inside the skeleton figure. This showed how our insides are protected. The preschoolers loved decoration these! Ask if they remember what our ribs do!

During our music and movement time, we had fun dancing to “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” and singing as fast as we could! We also danced the “Hokey Pokey” and had so much fun! When it was time to relax, we sang “I am Unique”. This is a favorite of the preschoolers.

During Jesus time, we talked about how Abraham and Sarah were not the only people in the Bible who were blessed with a baby. There were other moms and dads who were so happy to receive such a wonderful gift. We also learned that the most wonderful blessing was Jesus!

We had a fun day today!

See many of you next week.

Have a great weekend!

Terrific Thursday

Today we learned about our lungs. We learned that our lungs help us to breathe air in and out. Today the preschoolers got to take home a project that shows just how our lungs work! Ask them to show you!

We also took some time to learn more about the letter I. We glued items to the letter I that start with the letter like icecream, igloo and ice cubes!

During centers we focused on finishing up September portfolio projects. You will be able to see these during parent teacher conferences near the end of October!

Today during Jesus time, we learned the meaning of the word patient. We discussed that being patient means we have to wait. We know that sometimes it’s hard to be patient, but God will help us and be with us. We sang the song “Jesus Loves Me” to remind us that Jesus is with us always.

Tip-Top Tuesday

This week we are learning all about the different parts of our body. Today we talked about bones and that they give shape to our body. We talked about what our hands would look like without bones and used a visual of a glove filled with water! This showed the preschoolers that bones hold us up. Ask your preschooler what our bones do for us.

During circle time we looked in our letter bag, which was filled with items that start with the letter I. We had items like ice cube tray, an invitation and an ink pen!

Our project of the day was to a hand with bones! Each preschooler had their hand traced and then added bones (q-tips) to the hand shape! The preschoolers are doing a great job using just the right amount of glue.

Some fun centers we did today was a paper snipping center with scissors and tracing our names to prepare for writing them! The preschoolers did a great job with this.

During Jesus time we talked about the child that God provided for Abraham and Sarah. We learned what a promise is and that just as God kept his promise to Abraham, He will keep his promises to us.

Here are some pictures from our fun day at school!

Terrific Thursday

Today we learned about Johnny Appleseed. The preschoolers loved learning all of the neat things that Johnny Appleseed did. Today, our project of the day was to create a hat just like Johnny. The preschoolers glued a large apple with their name on it onto the hat template and then glued little apples all over! They were so excited to wear their hats!

We made applesauce again today! The preschoolers loved it and I wanted to give the opportunity to those friends who were not here on Wednesday! The preschoolers all helped to create the final product. They each helped to chop and cut the apples (using plastic ware). Then helped add the apples to the bowl. Then the apples were put into the microwave. After this the preschoolers watched the final steps (because the apples and bowl were too hot) and then the applesauce was put into the freezer to cool and the preschoolers enjoyed it for snack.

Wonderful Wednesday

We started our day with a Scholastic “classroom magazine” all about apples. We learned about the life cycle of an apple tree and about the many things that you can make out of apples. This was a fun and interactive lesson for the preschoolers.

We had a special center of the day that all preschoolers did in a group effort. We made applesauce!

Our project of the day was to create a “basket” of apples. The preschoolers made apple prints onto plain white paper. This was a fun activity and the preschoolers loved seeing the prints that the apples made on the paper. When the paint had dried the preschoolers used brown paper strips and glue to create baskets. These are hanging in the hallway!

**REMINDER**

We have no school Friday, September 23.

See some of you tomorrow!

Tip-Top Tuesday

We started our morning by looking at the letter bag that our friend Julian brought. He shared items that start with the letter T; train, track, table, tree and tomato! After sharing the letter bag, we watched a letter T video on the Smartboard that showed us more words and items that start with the letter T.

As we continued our apple week, we learned about apple trees. We learned that before an apple tree can grow, you must plant a seed. We learned about the stages a tree goes through before apples can grow! The preschoolers were so interested in this topic. Our story for the day was called “The Apple Pie Tree” and reinforced the stages a tree goes through before the apples are ready to pick.

Our project of the day was to create an apple tree. The preschoolers used a shower loofa to paint the leaves on the tree and used their fingers make the apples. These are on display in the hallway!

Our centers of the day were:

-Building the letter T out of playdough
-Rolling a dice and adding apples to the apple tree
-Apple pie sensory tub
-Coloring letter T or apple tree

During Jesus time, our friend Zippy came to visit. As Zippy arrived he was wearing a medal and was boastful about how amazing he was because he won a race. The preschoolers helped remind Zippy that God was the one who gave him the ability to do that and reminded Zippy that God is the best!

Marvelous Monday

This morning marked the beginning of our apple week! As the preschoolers came into the room they noticed that the dramatic play center was transformed into an apple store! The preschoolers had some much fun “buying” apples and using the cash register to pay for them!

During circle time we talked about our new letter of the week “T”. We talked about how to make it and practiced making it with Q-Tips! We also discussed apples. We talked about the parts of an apple. Ask your preschooler if they can tell the parts that make up an apple.

Our centers of the day were:

-Apple lacing cards
-Apple seed math counting (Preschoolers rolled a die and counted the spots, then placed that # of seeds onto apple cutout)
-Apple pie sensory tub (Using oats, mini pie tins, apples and cinna stix, preschoolers made apple pies)
-Letter T yarn book page

Our project of the day was to create an apple (while identifying the parts of an apple). The preschoolers painted the flesh and skin of the apple, then used their finger tips to make the seeds! When they dried, we added the stem and leaf!

Fantastic Friday

We had a wonderful day in preschool today!

We made rainbows to end our color week and to remind us of God’s promise to Noah and us!

We also did a color assessment by asking the preschoolers about the colors they knew! After the assessment the preschoolers made rainbow sticks that they can play with! These were a hit!

Terrific Thursday

We started our day by learning about the color black. The preschoolers were excited to watch a video all about things that are black. The preschoolers also loved searching for things around the room that were black. We also read a story called “Old Black Fly” an alphabet book all about a black fly who causes trouble around the house.

After circle time, each preschooler found a seat at the table for a project about the letter H. There were hearts at the table and the preschoolers glued hearts onto the letter H.

During center time the preschoolers had some free play time while I called them over to complete their project of the day. The preschoolers used different shaped paper to make black flies. The preschoolers did a great job of putting their flies together, and each one looked so different! One center was specifically for the four year olds, they used laminated name tags to practice tracing and writing their names. The three year olds continued working on name recognition.

During Jesus time we read another story about Noah’s Ark. The preschoolers have become experts about this story!

Our color of the day today was pink! We had a bag full of pink items from around the room like pink flowers, a pink pig and some pink blocks. We also noticed that many of the girls had pink on!

Our project of the day was a handprint pink flamingo. Miss Ronda and I took time to paint each of the preschoolers hands and turned it into a flamingo.

Our centers of the day were:
-building the letter H with blocks
-patterning and color matching
-ice melting and color mixing
-building Noah’s Ark with wooden blocks, tools and stuffed animals
