The preschoolers started their day by writing/drawing in their journals. I love seeing what they draw and then hearing all about it!
During circle time we learned about the word symmetrical. This was a tough word to pronounce but the preschoolers were excited to know that it meant that “something is the same on both sides”. We looked for things around the room that were symmetrical and learned that all butterflies are symmetrical. We looked through many of our butterfly books to make sure.
This discussion influenced our project of the day! We created our very own symmetrical butterflies. This was done by painting on only one half of a white paper butterfly. When they were finished each preschooler folded the white side of the butterfly down and pressed. When they opened the butterfly back up, the design was the same on both sides. These butterflies were left at school and will be displayed in the hallway!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
