Fantastic Friday

The preschoolers started their morning with some playdough. They loved rolling the playdough and making it into different shapes!

During circle time we read more stories about the zoo. The first was a very short book about zoo babies. The other was a Dr. Seuss book called, “If I Ran the Zoo”. The preschoolers loved hearing both books!

During center time we made our project of the day, which was to marble paint a zebra. The preschoolers liked making this and wanted to keep adding more marble designs. A favorite center of the day was our musical instrument center. The preschoolers loved hearing the sounds each instrument made!

During Jesus time, we did a poem/fingerplay to help us talk more about prayer. The preschoolers were so engaged in this activity!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Terrific Thursday

The preschoolers started their day by writing in their notebooks!

During circle time we played an alphabet game on the Smartboard and each preschooler got a chance to play the game. We then read a story called “Giraffes Can’t Dance” that inspired our project of the day.

Our project was a giraffe handprint craft. Each preschooler had their hand and forearm painted in yellow to make the shape of a giraffe. After that, they used their finger to make the brown spots on a giraffe. We then glued googley eyes onto the giraffe. These were left at school to dry and will be sent home with your child on their next day.

A favorite center of the day was writing letters in sand. At the center, each preschooler had a tray with sand and some alphabet cards. When they picked a card, they had to then write/draw the letter in the sand. They really enjoyed this center.

During Jesus time, we talked about the importance of prayer and many different things we can pray for!

Have a great evening and see many of you tomorrow!

Wonderful Wednesday

The preschoolers started their day by drawing and writing in their notebooks. They never fail to surprise us with their creative drawings!

During circle time we played an alphabet matching game. Each preschooler was given an alphabet card and had to match it to one of the letters on the carpet. The preschoolers loved this game so much so we played it a few times! We read another story about the zoo and focused on a lion.

Our project of the day was to paint a paper plate orange and then glued yellow, orange and brown paper strips to the plate. AFter that I helped the preschoolers to attach a popsicle stick to the plate. When it was all finished the preschoolers had a lion mask!

During chapel today, Pastor Biber continued the study of the Lord’s Prayer with the preschoolers. WE also got to sing our song of the month, I Am Unique! The preschoolers love this song!

Have a great evening!

Tip-Top Tuesday

The preschoolers started their morning by painting two paper plates brown. This was done so that they would be dry in time to do our projects. We used the paper plates to make the monkey’s head and body.

During circle time, we did a movement activity and and moved like different animals in the zoo. We stomped like elephants, hopped like kangaroos, swung from branch to branch like monkeys, etc.

To make our project, the preschoolers had to fold the monkey arms and legs. This was a great fine motor skill and a challenge to some of the preschoolers. After that we glued on the eyes. mouth and ears. The preschoolers loved their monkeys!

During Jesus time, we read from our Story Bible about Peter’s visit from an angel. After Jesus time, we sat down and drew our own angels!

Have a great day and see many of you tomorrow!

Marvelous Monday

The preschoolers started their day by coloring pictures of zoo animals. I saw many multi-colored animals but some did look like they came right from the zoo!

During circle time, we talked about the zoo. We talked about animals seen there, what you can do there and some of our favorite animals. After that we read a story all about the zoo called “The Zoo Book”. This book showed some great drawings of some of our favorite animals.

During center time, we finished our projects by cutting out the animals, gluing them to a paper plate and then lacing the plate. The lacing was used to create a cage for the animals!

During centers the preschoolers also had the opportunity to create their own enclosures out of blocks and using playdough and popsicle sticks! The preschoolers had fun with this.

We also made some special gifts for mom today for mom’s night!

Such a fun and busy day in preschool!

Have a great evening.

Terrific Thursday

The preschoolers started their day by writing in their notebooks. They really enjoy telling us about what they draw. When they finished they were able to play with blocks, read and play with puzzles.

During circle time we read the story One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and found that it was not much about fish. Nonetheless, the preschoolers have so enjoyed listening to Dr. Seuss books and looking at the wonderful illustrations.

Our project of the day was to make red fish and blue fish in a fish bowl. The preschoolers did this by folding and crumpling tissue paper onto two fish outlines and then coloring the water in the fish bowl blue.

A favorite center that we did today was using goldfish to count fish into fishbowls.

During Jesus time, we used pictures to retell our story of Pentecost. The preschoolers helped me to retell the story.

Don’t forget tomorrow is a half day!

See you tomorrow!

Wonderful Wednesday

The preschoolers started their morning by drawing and writing in their notebooks. After they were finished, they had some free play time in the classroom.

During circle time, we continued our Doctor Seuss theme and read “The Cat in the Hat”. The preschoolers loved hearing all of the silly things the cat did. We made predictions throughout the story about what would happen next. They really enjoyed this book!

Our project of the day was to make a hat just like The Cat in the Hat. The preschoolers painted red stripes on paper and when they had dried a bit, Mrs. Wolfgram and I worked to put them together. When we were all finished, the preschoolers grabbed their hats and smiled for a very cute picture! They were so proud of their hats!

During Jesus time, we practiced singing a very special song that we will be performing at our end of the year program! The preschoolers really seem to enjoy this song 🙂

Have a great evening and see many of you tomorrow!

Tip-Top Tuesday

The preschoolers started their day with some zig-zag cutting! This was great cutting practice and fit in well with our letter Z.

During circle time we read another Dr. Seuss story, Green Eggs and Ham. The preschoolers loved listening to this story and loved the reactions the characters had to one another. This story was inspiration in our dramatic play center, where many friends played in the kitchen and served green eggs and ham.

Our project of the day was to create a marble painted green egg. The preschoolers pretended they were Sam-I-Am’s friend who did not like the green eggs and ham and told me a place they would not eat the green eggs and ham!

Mrs. Wolfgram led our Jesus time today. What a nice treat! We read from our Story Bible about the story of Pentecost. After that the preschoolers engaged in a repeat poem with actions to help them remember the story!

We had a VERY fun day in preschool today.

Have a great evening.

Fantastic Friday

The preschoolers started their day by doing a letter Y q-tip sheet and by working together to put two farm puzzles together.

Since today was so nice, we stayed outside a little longer and even had snack and Jesus time outside! The preschoolers loved it.

Our project of the day was to water paint a farmer. All of our farmers had colorful overalls! The preschoolers then were asked, What would you do if you were a farmer? Their answers were written down and will be displayed in the hallway, along with their farmers! Stop by to check them out!

Have a great weekend! See you on Monday!

Wonderful Wednesday

The preschoolers started their day by drawing a picture in their notebooks! They love sharing what they have drawn with Mrs. Wolfgram and me.

During circle time this morning, we focused on our letter of the week. We used the Smartboard to watch a video about the sound letter Y makes and to find some words that start with letter Y. After that, we did an activity on the carpet and the preschoolers had to build the letter Y with q-tips. They did a great job!

Our project of the day was to create a horse. Earlier in the day Mrs. Wolfgram and I helped the preschoolers to trace one of their feet. When making their project, the preschoolers had to cut their footprint out. Then they pasted the footprint and neck onto the blue paper. When they finished that, they glued yarn on for hair and added eyes, ears and two spots for nostrils! They had fun making their horses.

A favorite center today was our dramatic play farming center. The preschoolers pretended to be farmers and were able to “milk the cow”, put the chicken eggs into egg cartons, rake and dress like farmers!

During Jesus time today, the preschoolers all had a chance to share something they knew about Jesus. Each came up and talked into our microphone. After each preschooler had the opportunity to share, we talked about all of the people we could share Jesus with.

Don’t forget, book orders are due THIS FRIDAY, April 15th!

Have a great evening!
