Terrific Thursday

The preschoolers started their day with a coloring sheet of baby Jesus laying in the manger. After they finished coloring, they flipped their paper over and wrote their name!

During Jesus time we talked about the shining star that led the wise men to baby Jesus. We talked about another shining light in our lives, JESUS! Jesus lights up our lives even when things are going bad. We said our words of the week with some motions to help remind us of this “Arise, shine, for your light has come”. Ask your child to show the motions that went along with this!

We rotated through centers which were searching for jingle bells in the sensory table, the train table, playdough with Christmas cookie cutters and chalkboards! We then sat down to work on our project for the day which was assembling baby Jesus in the manger! The preschoolers loved putting all of the pieces together to make a manger scene!

After centers, we gathered on the carpet for our Christmas Veggie Tales movie called “The Toy that Saved Christmas”. The preschoolers loved watching the movie!

See some of you tomorrow!

Wonderful Wednesday

Today we had a very fun filled day!

During circle time we sang the song jingle bells and used bells as we sang the song we got to shake some real jingle bells! We also lit our Advent wreath and put our Advent ornament on the tree. We counted down the days until Christmas and were so excited to hear that there were only 9 days!

Pastor Biber led us in a wonderful chapel today! We talked about all of the wonderful things that happen around Christmastime like presents, food, snow and toys. When then talked about how it would be if we didn’t have those things. Pastor Biber so kindly reminded us that even without those things, we still have a reason to celebrate because Jesus was born!

Our Christmas party was a huge success because of the wonderful parents who volunteered! Thank you so much for your help! Ask your preschooler what their favorite part of the party was! 🙂

DONT FORGET!!

Tomorrow and Friday are PJ and movie day at school! Send your preschooler to school in their pajamas for a fun day!

Have a wonderful evening!

Tip Top Tuesday

We started our day off by putting star stickers on our letter of the week, “S”. Some of us put the stickers on the inside and others tried to outline the s with stickers. We also wrote our names on the top in marker!

During Jesus time, we heard a story of how the wise men made heard of Jesus birth. We learned that they followed a star that led them to Jesus. We then took a journey around our classroom and followed the star just like the wise men. Our journey led us to our Christmas tree where we lit the candles on our advent wreath and then put the advent ornaments on our tree. We ended Jesus time by reading a story called “Goodnight, Manger”, where we heard the events of Jesus birth. The preschoolers loved this story and listened so well!

We rotated through centers which were a wrapping paper cutting center, blocks center (we built a path for the wise men to follow to baby Jesus, a kitchen (dramatic play center) and a sorting center using green, red and white pom poms. We also spent some time finishing up our gifts for you! These will be sent home by the end of this week!

**Don’t forget that we have our Christmas party tomorrow. Don’t forget to bring in your book for our book exchange. Only those who bring in a book will be able to participate!
**There is an early dismissal on Friday for full day students, at 12:30!

See some of you tomorrow!

Fantastic Friday

We started our day by decorating some white paper bags. We used Christmas stickers and stamps and wrote our names. (Some members of the church will collect these bags and will fill them with a treat for the preschoolers!) For those who made some yesterday, we did a fine motor activity at the table.

We rotated through our centers and added some new ones to some already done this week. We had a Playdough center (using green for G of course) with some Christmas themed cookie cutters. Mrs. Wolfgram worked with the preschoolers in the writing center and we painted the letter G. I worked at a center with the preschoolers and we made made a part of the Christmas gift that will be sent home for parents!

During Jesus time we talked about how we could share the love of Jesus with others just like the shepherds shared the good news of Jesus birth to all. We got into groups of two and shared some good news with partners.

Don’t forget about the Christmas concert on Sunday! I hope to see you all there!

Have a wonderful and blessed weekend!

Terrific Thursday

We started our day by decorating some white paper bags. We used Christmas stickers and stamps and wrote our names. (Some members of the church will collect these bags and will fill them with a treat for the preschoolers!)

During Jesus time we learned how the shepherds had a long journey to find Jesus born in Bethlehem. We pretended that we were the shepherds who heard of Jesus birth. We went on a journey through our classroom to find Baby Jesus in Bethlehem! (We had a great time)

We took some time to make our letter G with q-tip writing. We chose to use the color green because it starts with G. 🙂

We rotated through our centers (just like always) and added some new ones to some already done this week. We had a Playdough center (using green for G of course) with some Christmas themed cookie cutters. We used our wooden blocks to build a stable for baby Jesus and in the center was Jesus laying in his manger. I worked with the preschoolers at a counting and number matching/recognition center!

We worked on our mural by painting some hills onto a large sheet of blue paper. The shepherds that we colored on Tuesday are glued on. Stop by to see our shepherds on their journey to find baby Jesus!

We ended our day with a Christmas counting book called “10 Trim-the-Tree’ers”. We had fun counting the ornaments that were put on the tree!

Don’t forget about the Christmas program on Sunday at the Ascension Campus! The program starts at 2 but please arrive by 1:45. Your child can sit with you until we begin to gather them at 1:55!

Have a great evening!

See some of you tomorrow!

Wonderful Wednesday

This morning we started with a fine motor activity of putting beads onto a pipe cleaner! We used red and clear beads (on a white pipe cleaner) to create a candy cane. These candy canes can be used as ornaments for the Christmas tree!

During circle time, we learned the story of the Candy Cane. Ask your preschooler if they can tell you what this story is.

Pastor Biber led us in chapel. We talked about joy and some things that bring us joy. We also were able to practice singing our Christmas songs in front of the Mom’s Day Out and Pastor! The preschoolers did an excellent job!

During centers we did some number recognition and matching using a new Christmas cookie game. Our project of the day was using red and white puffy paint to create our own candy canes! These are staying at school to dry. We worked with Mrs. Wolfgram at the writing center to make our letter G with dobbers and then drew something about Christmas in our notebooks! We were very creative.

To end our day we read a story called “God Gave us Christmas”. In this story we learned that Santa is not the focus of Christmas. God gave us Jesus and that is why we are able to celebrate!

See many of you tomorrow!

Tip-Top Tuesday

The preschoolers started their day by putting sticker ornaments on tree. Peeling stickers and placing them on paper is a great fine motor activity!

Our friend Carter brought the G letter bag and had so many neat “G” items! He brought a globe, a gift, gum and a glove! (Ask your preschooler if they can remember any other items)

During Jesus time we learned how the shepherds heard the news of Jesus birth. As we listened we gave a thumbs up when we knew the shepherds were happy or excited. We gave a thumbs down when we knew the shepherds were scared or afraid. We knew that the shepherds could be happy because they were on their way to see Our Savior, Jesus!

During centers we used watercolors to paint the letter G! The preschoolers loved using the watercolors for the first time! We had a lacing center and laced fruit loops to decorate our tree. We used magnetic ABC letters to spell our names and used name cards to spell our friends names too! One of the favorite centers of the day was decorating the “mini” Christmas trees. The kiddos would decorate it, take the decorations off and do it all again!

Today we colored shepherds that will be used for a mural for the hallwa

Marvelous Monday

We started our day off with some centers. Centers were ABC puzzles at the table and on the carpet, bead lacing and using our geoboards to create shapes!

During circle time, we began talking about our letter G. We noticed that it looks a lot like the letter C with a little hook. We found some words that start with G like girl, goose and goat. We also lit our Advent wreath (2 candles today) and put our ornaments on our tree from our Advent ornament box!

During centers we used some small ornaments to decorate little Christmas trees in our room (such a big hit). Another center was lacing Fruit Loops to decorate our big tree in the classroom. Mrs. Wolfgram worked with some friends on coloring a picture of our letter of the week and making our letter G, we were so proud that we could make it. We sorted Legos and then when finished could build with them and also had a building center. I saw many tall towers today!

Our project was to create an angel. First, we made the face on the angel, then we painted the angel’s dress and put glue on the wings so that we could add some glitter! The preschoolers LOVED using the glitter. I kept these at school to hang in the hallway! Look for them the next time you are here!

During Jesus time we heard about how the angels sent a star in the sky to show that Jesus was born! The star was a sign to all the our Savior had been born.

Have a great evening and see many of you tomorrow!

Fantastic Friday

We started our day with some centers. We had some shape puzzles on the carpet, lacing cards, a bead and pipe cleaner center and a gingerbread man puzzle.

During circle time we talked some more about Advent and learned that the word meant “coming”. We talked about who/what was coming soon (I expected to hear Santa) but some answers I received were Jesus, God and Jesus birthday! GREAT ANSWERS!!!

Zippy visited during Jesus time and talked about how he was so excited for Christmas to come and to receive all of his presents! Although presents are nice, we discussed how JESUS was the best gift we could receive! He died to take away our sins so that we can go to HEAVEN! There is no greater gift! 🙂

During centers we did a science experiment to simulate how animals stay warm in the winter! Ask your child if they can tell you what we did.

Some friends who were not here yesterday made an Advent paper chain to help count the days until Christmas!

Have a blessed weekend!

Terrific Thursday

We started our day with a fine motor activity where we put beads onto a pipe cleaner! Many of them noticed that the beads were Christmas colors (red, green and white)!

During circle time we looked around the room and noticed somethings around our room that have changed. We now have a Christmas tree in the corner, we have some snowflakes hanging from the ceiling and garland is hanging on the door and on the Smartboard.

We lit a candle on our Advent wreath this morning. We talked about what the candle on our Advent wreath stood for and that this wreath helps us count the weeks until Jesus’ birthday! We also put ornaments on our tree that came from our Advent ornament box. (The preschoolers get so excited when it is their turn to put an ornament on!!)

Our centers of the day were sensory table, bear hibernation (dramatic play), car/train patterning and fine motor transfer center (we used tweezers to move objects).

For letter review, we used paint to trace over our letters (these were left at school to dry). We also made an Advent paper chain. The children are to take a chain off each night, when they get to the star, that means it is Christmas Day!

See many of you tomorrow!

Have a blessed evening!
