Wonderful Wednesday

We had a wonderful Wednesday at school. We spent a lot of our time playing in the classroom and getting our feet painted. The preschoolers used their footprints to make flip flops! The preschoolers loved having their feet painted and couldn’t stop laughing!

We have been sending home many name tags, crafts and projects. Soon portfolios, notebooks and progress reports will be sent home. Look for them in your child’s backpack.

We spent much of our day practicing for the closing program. We practiced procressinf in, singing and standing in our places. The preschoolers are doing such an excellent job and are so excited to share their songs with you!

Don’t forget our closing program is Friday, May 26 from 11:30-12:00.

See you tomorrow!

Terrific Tuesday

What a fun Tuesday at school!

Today we talked about some fun things to do outside in the summer time. Swimming, playing and going to the park were fan favorites. We also talked about blowing bubbles. We created this fun in the classroom by mixing soap, water and paint. We used straws to make our bubbles, when the bubbles were blown we pressed our papers on top to create bubble art. The preschoolers had so much fun with this activity and did not want to stop.

Many of us have also brought home our number books and abc yarn books. If your child has not brought these home yet, they will before the end of the week!

During chapel, Pastor Phil had us think back on our school year, the friends we made, the things we learned, the fun we had! We remembered that all of this is possible because Jesus loves us!

We have been reading books about summer time and love hearing all of the fun things that can be done in the summer time.

Don’t forget about our closing program from 11:30-12:00 on Friday. All preschoolers are invited to join for this fun day! School will be dismissed at 12:00 and no lunch will be served on this day.

I look forward to more fun this week!

Marvelous Monday

Here’s to our last Monday at school!

This week we are having summer fun! Today we made puffy paint ice cream cones. Once we added our ice cream layers we topped it with sprinkles.

After making our puffy paint ice cream, we made ice cream in a bag using this recipe…

Mix,
1 cup whole milk
2 tsp of sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
In a quart size ziploc bag.

Then add about 2 cups of ice with 1/4 cup of salt in a gallon sized ziploc bag.

Once all bags are sealed tightly shake and mix vigorously for 5-10 mins or until liquid mixture gets icy.

This was a fun day for the preschoolers.

We have been working hard to practice our songs for the closing program. Our program will be from 11:30-12:00 on friday, May 26th.

See you tomorrow.

Terrific Thursday

This morning we learned about volcanoes in Hawaii. We learned that volcanoes erupt and lava comes out. We watched videos of volcanoes and the preschoolers were very engaged.

We made our own volcanoes by tearing brown paper strips and using colored puffy paint. These were left at school to dry.

We also had a center making Leis. I saw many patterns being made as each flower was strung.

We have continued to practice our songs for the upcoming program! The time we recently changed. The new start time will be 11:30 and we will end at 12. We hope you can make it.

Wonderful Wednesday

The preschoolers are loving Hawaiian week! We started our morning by reading a story called “The First Pineapple”. After reading, we made our own pineapples. We made designs with glue and added gold glitter. To make the leaf, we added our handprint! 🙂

Our dramatic play center is very beachy. We have a pool filled with pool noodles, a bucket and an inner tube. We also have beach themed dress up clothes and umbrellas! Our sensory tub is filled with sand and seashells.

Dont forget about our closing program on May 26th from 11:00-11:30. All preschoolers are invited on this day!

See you tomorrow!

Aloha from Hawaii.

This week we are learning about all things beach and Hawaii.

Today we watched some Smartboard videos about Hawaii. We learned that there are many volcanoes, oceans and tropical life.

We learned about ukuleles and that they originated in Hawaii. We made our own ukuleles using recycled snack boxes, rubber bands and paint. These were so fun. Find a video on my class instagram page @wol_otooleps34 to see us playing these ukuleles.

During Jesus time, our friend Zippy came to visit. We talked with zippy about his daily routine. He realized that he had forgotten something. We figured it to be his nighttime prayers. We mentioned that God forgives even when we forget to pray, but accepts our prayers at anytime.

See you tomorrow!

Terrific Thursday

Today we spent time talking about all of the fun things that can be done when you go camping. Swimming, roasting marshmallows, boat riding and fishing were all mentioned.

We focused on fishing. We watched a video on the Smartboard telling us how we could safely fish and important things to remember when fishing.

Our centers were very fishing focused..
-we used bubble wrap to make scale prints on fish. When dry, they were attached to a fishing pole.
-our sensory tub was filled with water rocks and sticks to mimick a pond. There were also magnetic letters and numbers. The preschoolers used magnetic fishing poles to fish for these.
-we played a fishing game at the table. The preschoolers took turns fishing for cards that matched a boat that was in front of them.

During Jesus time, we talked with Zippy about how the Holy Spirit helps us grow in Jesus. We learned about the different fruits of the spirit. Can your preschooler tell you these?

See many of you tomorrow!

Wonderful Wednesday

What do you sleep in when you go camping? A tent! Today during circle time the preschoolers watched (as I struggled) to put a tent up. We talked about the steps you take and the pieces needed to make the tent stand.

We took this information into centers, when we built and created our own tents. Toothpicks, marshmallows and tissues were the tools we needed to make our tents. Can you preschooler tell you how they made their tent stand. Some other centers were, our dobber counting books. We will be working on these into the next week.

During Jesus time we told the story of Pentecost using pictures. Each picture represented a different part of the story. Ask your preschooler what they remember.

See many of you tomorrow!

Tip-Top Tuesday

As we sat around our campfire at circle time this morning, we talked about campfires. We talked about how campfires help people when they camp. Ask your preschooler some of the ways they remember. We also talked about staying safe around a campfire.

During centers we:
-played a fishing game…we used a fishing pole to catch fish that matched the color of our boat
-built marshmallow towers to see who could build the tallest
-made a handprint campfire…we painted our own hands to make the fire

Our dramatic play center has been transformed into a campsite. I love hearing the conversations while the preschooler are in the tents or “roasting” marshmallows around the campfire.

During chapel today, we learned about how a shepherd takes care of his sheep. We learned that we have a shepherd who takes care of us. Ask your preschooler who our Good Shepherd is.

See many of you tomorrow!

Marvelous Monday

This week is camping week in preschool: during circle time, we sat around a “fire” talk and read. We talked about when we go camping and some of the things we can do while camping. Can your preschooler tell you?

We decided to go on a nature walk today because when you go camping you spend time outdoors. We made binoculars using tp tubes. As we went on our nature walk, we used a checklist to mark off the things we saw. Ask your preschooler what they saw.

During centers we used tin cans and rocks to do some counting and sorting. We used marshmallows and paint to make some patterns.

During Jesus time we read about when the Holy Spirit helped men of different nations and tongues understand each other. Ask your preschooler what helped them to understand.

See some of you tomorrow!
